Private Veterinary Specialties L.L.C provides on-site medical oncology services at 9 different locations for veterinarians and their clients throughout central New Jersey. This unique approach allows some pet owners to stay with their primary veterinarian’s office while their pet is receiving cancer care or be seen at one of our convenient locations.
Our mobile department allows us to provide veterinary cancer consultations, diagnostic procedures, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. Full lab services are utilized including blood work, flow cytometry, cytology, and histology. Essentially we bring the specialists to you.

Founder of PVS, Dr. M.J. Hamilton has assembled a talented team of professionals for the practice. Private Veterinary Specialties specializes in pet oncology, however, our team has cared for dogs, cats, horses, and various animal species including those in zoo habitats.

M.J. Hamilton, DVM, DACVIM(O)
Veterinarian / Owner
Dr. Hamilton has worked in veterinary medicine his entire life, starting as kennel help at the age of 14. After completing his undergraduate degree in psychology he stayed at Colorado State University to complete his doctorate of veterinary medicine. Dr. Hamilton spent two years in general practice in Las Vegas then went on to start his oncology residency at Michigan State University. As a board-certified veterinary oncologist, Dr. Hamilton has been commissioned to start multiple oncology departments in the northeast, participate in clinical trials and is asked lectures frequently. He deeply enjoys the bettering the lives of oncology patients and working with their owners to ensure the best quality of life possible. This passion motivated Dr. Hamilton to bring oncology specialty care to the general practice, allowing pet owners, their veterinarians, and specialists to work together in one setting. When not at work, Dr. Hamilton enjoys hobby farming and tending to all his critters.
Lanore has always loved animals and started on her path in the veterinary field at age 16, working after school and Saturdays at a surgical referral orthopedic specialty hospital. Her continued experience has included all aspects of general practice, The Seeing Eye Breeding Center, emergency, and currently since 2012, oncology. Oncology has been very rewarding for her because of the continued relationships with the patients and their families during their treatment. Her top priority in the field of veterinary medicine has always been the comfort and care of the patients. She has an especially warm spot in her heart for senior dogs and Boston Terriers. She enjoys music, gardening, and spending quality time with her husband and their dogs.
Alexa graduated from Delaware Valley University in 2013 with a B.S. in equine science and management. She has always been an avid horse person competing all through her junior years until realizing a passion for caring for small animals as well. She started working for Dr. Hamilton in 2013 as oncology became her main focus. Her hobbies include riding her horse Bentley, dirt track racing, and loving her Great Dane Tyrion.
